The Crosby At Rancho Santa Fe

The Embodiment of Casual Elegance...

Verdant, rolling hills define the landscape of coastal Southern California – giant boulders mounting from the Pacific coast all the way to the coastal mountains that keep the desert at bay. In the folds created where these hills touch, fresh water runs its long race for the Pacific and one finds the abundant wildlife and unique flora that characterize Southern California.

Conquistadors once wandered this land and drank from the rivers and streams in valleys on their way up the coast to establish California’s world renown missions: San Diego de Alcala, San Luis Rey and San Juan Capistrano along with seventeen others that stretch to San Francisco de Solano just north of San Francisco.

In one such valley, not far from the charming village of Rancho Santa Fe, lies one of the region’s most sought after golf course communities: The Crosby at Rancho Santa Fe.

Situated on 729 acres of the pristine San Dieguito River Valley and surrounded by blue skies and tree-lined hills, The Crosby embodies the casual elegance that historically has been part of this exclusive area. Beauty, seclusion and tradition are the great ideals that have always defined life here. A retreat that provides a serene outdoor lifestyle, Rancho Santa Fe and the San Dieguito River Valley are places where inspired architecture blends with secluded hills and graceful trees to create a storybook setting of grace and elegance.

These ideals have been carried into the design of The Crosby community as well as into the eighteen holes of Fred Couples and Brian Curley-designed golf that form the centerpiece of this private country club enclave.

Elevation changes are the hallmark of The Crosby and golfers get a bird’s-eye view of a number of greens from tee boxes set high in the sky. The highest point on the course is the tee box on the fifth hole, a 423-yard par 4 that offers sweeping views of the property while players figure out what club will keep the ball in a fairway that curves to the right nearly 200 feet below.

Four of the course’s par 3s also play downhill, epitomized by the 174-yard 11th hole with its dramatic red rocks and abandoned mine shaft framing a tiny green. The longest par 3 at The Crosby is the 13th hole at 240 yards. Its inviting green sits approximately 100 feet below the tee box. The course’s only par 3 that doesn’t play downhill is the 183-yard 8th hole which features a three-tiered green set into a natural amphitheater of rock formations with a steep ravine full of native chaparral in front.

The entire layout is dramatic, yet fairways are generous and the elevation changes and distance between greens and tee boxes make each hole a picturesque experience. The North County San Diego region’s serenity lends itself to a relaxing atmosphere that helps to create legendary golf experiences that continue to challenge and inspire year after year.

Completed in 2002, the Swim and Athletic Center offers four state-of-the-art tennis courts, a junior Olympic-size swimming pool, outdoor spa, fully equipped fitness center, and casual snack-bar dining. With these amenities and more, The Crosby offers all the traditions of a private country club complete with junior activities such as golf and tennis clinics, summer camps, organized social events and much more. In short, this club is destined to provide a complete lifestyle for the discerning family.

As exceptional as the golf experience is at The Crosby, the opportunities for homeownership are equally as impressive. A full range of luxury residences are available within the private community. From the planned golf villas to multi-million dollar fully-appointed and furnished turnkey residences to spectacular custom lots, respected builders from around the region have joined together to bring diversity and choice to discriminating buyers looking for the very best in private country club living.

Architecturally, the homes at The Crosby recall the designs of Lillian Rice, a prominent architect who was instrumental in establishing the architectural theme of the village of Rancho Santa Fe in the 1920s. Their authentic Spanish Colonial Revival detailing graciously complements the rural warmth, charm and tranquility of the Santa Fe Valley.

Those qualities are readily seen at two neighborhoods being built at The Crosby by California Cove Communities. The luxurious homes at both Estrella and Tres Vistas offer rich architectural detailing such as turreted entryways, intricate ironwork and tiled roofs that combine to recall the feel of rugged luxury one expects to find in Rancho Santa Fe area and reflects its vibrant architectural heritage.

One of the more dramatic examples of The Crosby’s commitment to innovation in the luxury home market is Stonefield Legacy at The Crosby. Unique among custom home neighborhoods, each magnificent residence is a one of a kind masterpiece of homebuilding artistry– a complete turnkey custom estate. Stonefield Development is renowned for this elaborately detailed concept, which originally was inspired by custom-home buyers who desire the best of everything. To fulfill that desire, Stonefield finishes every home with virtually every available luxury amenity one would expect to find in homes of this caliber, including all the features that are requisite in a custom home today: a private bath adjoining every bedroom suite; several custom fireplaces; marble flooring; crown moldings throughout; gourmet island kitchens with granite countertops, walk-in pantries, butler’s pantries and a collection of professional-caliber Viking and Wolf appliances.
