Grand Wailea Resort Hotel & Spa

Understated Elegance in Hawaii's Premier Natural Setting

The minute visitors arrive at this 40-acre stretch of property fronting magnificent Wailea Beach they realize all their expectations will soon be surpassed. Uncompromised quality, style and elegance are the hallmarks of the Grand Wailea Resort Hotel & Spa, located on the golden sands of Maui’s southwest shore.

Guests of Grand Wailea are invited to immerse themselves body and soul in the rejuvenating pleasures of the resort, reflected in the six major design themes of flowers, water, trees, sound, light and art. From its award-winning spa to its water playgrounds and oceanfront location, Grand Wailea Resort is designed to soothe the mind and refresh the spirit.

Attentive staff and luxurious accommodations set the standard for a level of service unparalleled in the islands.

Opened in 1991, this award-winning resort has 780 guest rooms divided between five independent wings, each surrendering magnificent views. Also within the resort is the highly exclusive Napua Tower, an intimate small hotel with two private lounges, unique guest services and rooms ranging from 700 square feet to the 5,500-square-foot Grand Suite.

The hotel’s five individual guest wings are surrounded by tropical gardens containing sculpture, paintings and mosaics, some created by local Hawaiian artists and others by renowned figures such as Picasso, Warhol, Botero and Leger. Many pieces reflect the culture, legends and history of the Hawaiian people, creating a rich visual environment for visitors and further enhancing the resort’s $30 million art collection.

From its vantage point on a gentle slope above top-rated Wailea Beach, the hotel has been positioned so each of its guest room wings feature ocean views and unique personalities. Chapel Wing, for instance, offers a calm, quiet environment and inspiring views of Maui’s spectacular sunsets, while Lagoon Wing overlooks the Wailea Canyon Activity Pool, an ideal location for families.

Water adds an important dimension to Grand Wailea Resort’s allure. Fountains, pools and water gardens thread their way throughout the grounds, filling the air with sounds and eyes with beauty. The unique Wailea Canyon Activity Pool is a 2,000-foot-long river-pool complete with water slides, waterfalls, caves, grottos, white-water rapids and the world’s only water elevator, which lifts guests back to an upper-level pool. A specially designed deep-water Scuba Diving Pool gives guests a taste of the marine life found just off Wailea’s coastline. And just for adults, the formal Hibiscus Pool shimmers with a huge mosaic floral inlay on the pool floor.

Dining is a momentous occasion at Grand Wailea Resort, with six restaurants and an exciting variety of cuisine from which to choose. The Grand Dining Room opens to views of the islands of Lanai and Molokini, Wailea Beach and the West Maui Mountains. Humuhumunukunukuapua’a, a “floating restaurant” named for Hawaii’s state fish, offers seafood in an atmosphere of South Sea-style thatched roof huts. Serving authentic Japanese cuisine, Kincha is known as a restaurant that embodies the artistic beauty of Japanese culture in an unforgettable setting. For more casual evenings, the Bistro Molokini offers open-air dining overlooking the Pacific.

The Resort’s Spa Grande, with 50,000 square feet of spa services offered in a spectacular beachfront location, is consistently recognized by Conde Nast and Travel + Leisure as among the “Top 10 Spas in the United States.” By blending Hawaiian and ancient Eastern healing and relaxation techniques with European spa therapies, the Spa Grande staff strives to offer guests “an awakening of the senses and a renewed enthusiasm for life.” This philosophy is reflected in the spa’s signature treatment, Terme Wailea Hydrotherapy, which incorporates water massages, scrubs and baths.

Grand Wailea Resort has close proximity to a wealth of golf opportunities, including the three 18 hole courses that comprise Wailea Golf Club. Four additional golf courses are within a 15-minute drive, making this a true golfing mecca for resort guests.

The three 18-hole layouts at Wailea Golf Club have distinct characteristics, yet each shares the incredible views of Mt. Haleakala rising 10,000 feet to the east and the sapphire Pacific sweeping to the west. The Blue Course is Wailea’s “Grand Lady,” a tropical landscape offering a picturesque “tour” of the resort as well as a fair challenge. The Gold Course and the Emerald Course were designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., and both were named among the “Ten Best New Resort Courses” by Golf Magazine and Golf Digest after their opening in 1994.

The Gold Course stretches more than 7,000 yards through strategic hazards, elevation changes and unusual lava rock walls built by early Hawaiians and preserved during course construction. On the other hand, Wailea Emerald is a tropical playground designed for pure golf enjoyment, lush with exotic blossoms and offering a great deal more forgiveness than the Gold.

Grand Wailea Resort Hotel & Spa fulfills every expectation and more, as a destination of such beauty, refreshment and culture that guests will want to relive the experience time and again.
